I’m back! Sorry for the little break I was off enjoying the slight gap in the rain that could vaguely qualify as ‘summer.’
So to kick us off again here’s a great bit of packaging design by Turner Duckworth for Diet Coke. It was originally designed last August and was intended to be for a limited time only however Diet Coke have recently decided to adopt the design permanently.
The design is, in essence, just a cropped section of the diet coke logo but Turner Duckworth have done a brilliant job of determining the recognisable elements of the logo and only retaining these key details to make an iconic but minimal design.
By taking a ‘brand first’ approach and focusing only on the brand instead of the product Turner Duckworth have made sure that the design cannot be mimicked or copied by competing, supermarket own products.
As a side note I absolutely love Neil Dawson’s cartoon style sculpture ‘Horizons’:
Gorgeous. Just a shame they’re in New Zealand!
